Does a trip to Barcelona have to be about soccer? Not always. This time, Microsoft Fabric brought us to the city. From September 28 to October 1, 2026, we attended the European Microsoft Fabric + SQL Community Conference at the CCIB convention center in Barcelona. It was a special milestone for EBIS: our first time attending FabCon as a company, joining as both a sponsor and an exhibitor. We returned with new connections, inspiration, and experiences that we look forward to applying to our client projects and our team’s development.

FabCon Europe 2026 – Four Days at the Heart of the Microsoft Data Community

FabCon Europe brings together professionals who design, implement, and expand solutions built on Microsoft data technologies. This year’s program featured more than 130 expert-led sessions, over 100 speakers, and more than 10 hands-on workshops.

The event covered Microsoft Fabric, Power BI, SQL Server, and Azure SQL, alongside topics such as data integration, lakehouse architecture, security, and artificial intelligence. Real-time analytics and the development of AI agents that work with enterprise data were also prominent themes. The conference offered opportunities to explore where technology is heading and discuss how organizations can put it to work. For the EBIS team, it was a chance to compare our own experiences with the perspectives of experts, partners, and users of these solutions.

We kicked off our visit with Partner Day. The days that followed were filled with meetings, knowledge sharing, and conversations at the EBIS booth.

A New Perspective: EBIS as a Sponsor and Exhibitor

Being an exhibitor gave us a fresh perspective on FabCon. For EBIS CEO Mateusz Bazan, this was his fourth FabCon, but this time, face-to-face conversations with visitors to our booth took on particular importance.

We spoke with customers, partners, and Microsoft team members, exchanging ideas, challenges, and experiences. As Mateusz highlighted in his recap, what stood out was not only the pace of innovation around Microsoft Fabric, but also how willing attendees were to share knowledge and feedback. We especially valued the opportunity to speak with Microsoft teams that listen closely to partners and the community. Meaningful discussions took place both during the conference and at evening networking events.

FabCon also gave us the chance to meet people we had previously connected with mainly online. These encounters help strengthen relationships and continue conversations that began with a shared interest in Microsoft Fabric and Power BI.

Duck Hunt and Golf – An Unexpected Way to Start Conversations About Data

At our booth, technology met a little nostalgia and friendly competition. The classic NES game Duck Hunt and golf proved to be great conversation starters. Attendees could take a short break from the conference schedule, test their aim, and revisit fond memories of retro gaming.

Setting up Duck Hunt required much more technical work than we initially expected, but visitors’ reactions made the effort worthwhile. Smiles, excitement, and shared fun created a relaxed atmosphere for making connections. As the conference went on, a game controller and a golf club turned out to be the starting point for many valuable conversations about Microsoft Fabric.

Two participants particularly stood out:

– Francesco Broglia – winner of the Duck Hunt Challenge.

– Estera Kot, PhD – achieved the highest score among female participants.

Congratulations, and thank you to everyone who took on the challenge!

Bringing Knowledge and Connections Home From Barcelona

Our presence at FabCon was made possible by the efforts of the entire EBIS team. Mateusz Bazan, Rafał Wieczorek, Jakub Nowicki, and Oliwia Kupczyk represented us on-site, supported throughout the preparations by colleagues across the company. Thank you for your dedication, hard work running the booth, and the energy you brought to every interaction with visitors.

We also extend our thanks to the Microsoft teams, organizers, speakers, and the Microsoft Fabric and Power BI community. We are bringing home knowledge and perspectives that will help us make even more informed assessments of how technology can support our clients’ projects. This combination of technical expertise, implementation experience, and open exchange of ideas is what makes events like FabCon so valuable to us.

Thank you to everyone who stopped by the EBIS booth – whether to talk about data analytics and beyond, try their hand at golf, or play a round of Duck Hunt. See you at the next FabCon!
